Over the past few years, Global Connections has gradually repositioned itself from being primarily a network of mission agencies working overseas, to include UK ministries and churches committed to serving God in mission. This shift was in recognition of the need to encourage a more holistic view of mission within agencies and churches as well as being in response to the changes that have taken place across the world in recent years.
The work of Global Connections in the area of mission in the UK currently falls under four initiatives, each providing opportunities to look at the practical, spiritual, theological and political aspects of sharing Jesus with those who do not know him.
Faith to Faith Forum: In 2007 Global Connections merged with the Faith to Faith network. Faith to Faith now operates as one of the forums, providing opportunities to discuss issues relating to building relationships with people of other faiths around the country. Furthermore, the Global Connections website now features a Faith to Faith resource centre with materials for individuals and churches interested in or already involved in this area of ministry.
East Asia Diaspora Forum: This is a new Global Connections forum for all those working amongst people from East Asia living in the UK - whether as migrants or students.
Jewels in His Crown: The Jewels in His Crown Movement is a network run by several mission agencies and churches, partly administered by Global Connections. The focus of the movement is mission to British Asians and encouraging and equipping British Asian Christians, mostly within the South Asian Diaspora in the UK.
Pole to Pole: The Pole to Pole initiative is a joint project of Global Connections, European Christian Mission, the Evangelical Alliance and the Fellowship of Churches of Christ. It's objective is to encourage mission amongst the Polish Diaspora in the UK – both wartime migrants and those arriving in the last few years.
CRIB: CRIB is a network for Christians who are involved in evangelistic engagement with Muslims and Islam in Britain.
