Global Interface was a consultation in 2004 looking at changes in the world, the church and mission. It brought together UK church leaders and UK world mission leaders to listen to each other and begin to define and reshape the churches' mission to the world at the beginning of the 21st century.
Twenty years ago nearly all the world mission effort of the UK church was directed through missionary societies. Today the situation is vastly different, as churches in the UK reach out in twinning arrangements across the world. Agencies are often project orientated, rethinking their relationship with churches that support them and reconfiguring themselves to provide a specialist service in a particular ministry area or area of the world.
The consultation included contributions from church leaders and dealt with issues such as:
- Do we believe that building the world-wide Kingdom of God is the job of the local church?
- What do we understand mission to be?
- How can churches relate to the vast amount of world news that comes through TV news, the internet, newspapers and mission agency publications?
- Are there new ways of helping Christians to catch a vision for Gods world?
