Relief and Development Forum - 13 May 2008
For all those wanting to consider the issue of community empowerment in an urban context
This event has a £20 member's discount so the cost is only £15 for members. Login as a member to obtain this member benefits or book via the booking form.
It is estimated that by the year 2025 over 300 million more Chinese people will have migrated from a rural setting to live in an urban area. The same is true in many other countries, with Botswana estimated to be 95% urban by 2015!! Yet most community development programmes seem to concentrate on rural settings. Have we neglected the cities or is community work in such settings impossible? This meeting will look at issues such as: - Looking at the facts - where are we concentrating our efforts
- Community empowerment in an urban setting - an impossible dream or a Christian imperative
- Case studies and seminars looking at innovative programmes to address issues of poverty in urban contexts
People will be encouraged to bring case studies to share experience in this area. The meeting starts at 11.00am with refreshments from 10.30am and finishes at 16.00pm. The cost includes a buffet lunch. You can book your place by downloading the booking form or via the online booking facility.
