How can I sign up to the Global Connections website?
You only ever need to do this once. Remember your username and password, and next time you visit the Global Connections website you will only need to click the login link.
1. Ask your GC contact for your organisation’s membership number. If you do not know who this is or how to get the number, use the link at the bottom of this page to send an email requesting the membership number for your organisation.
2. Next, go to the Global Connections homepage.
3. At the top right hand corner of the page you will see the words ‘Sign up’ – click on this.
4. Complete the form:
a. Username: this can be your name or something more obscure. If you add a message to the discussion board then it is your username that will be shown.
b. Password: this can be anything that you will remember. However, if you forget it you can re-set it during the login procedure.
c. The asterisk ‘*’ means that the box next to it must be filled in.
d. The question mark ‘?’ means that there is more information about what you should put in the box. You can see this by moving your cursor over the question mark and more wording will appear.
e. Telephone numbers should be typed with no spaces.
f. Alternative delivery address: this is important for the shop where people may want goods delivered at work but their credit card has a home address (or vice versa). Only complete this if it is relevant to you. It could be completed at a later date.
g. Membership number: type in your number. This should be 3 digits / 4 digits e.g. 000/0000
h. Members: choose from the drop down list. This list is related to the member organisation profiles on the site. If there are any inaccuracies with any of the details on the site, please do email info@globalconnections.co.uk or call the office on 01926 487755.
5. Once this is completed, click ‘register’ at the bottom of the form.
6. You will then get the form with a new box at the bottom that says ‘Forums of interest.’ Choose any of the forums that you are interested in from the dropdown box on the left. When the name is highlighted, click ‘add’ and the name will appear in the box to the right. This will then enable you to access forum specific information. If you add any item in the right hand box and then change your mind, click on the item and then ‘remove’ and you will no longer have that highlighted as one of your preferences. You can add or remove preferences at a later date as well.
7. Once you have made all the adjustments you want, click ‘register.’ All the information that you have input into this page is now known as ‘My profile.’
8. You will then be given an option to go to the homepage or my profile. From the homepage you can navigate anywhere on the Global Connections site but because you are logged in you will also be able to access member benefits as well.
