Who is it for?
- UK mission agency personnel involved in Latin America
- Latin Americans in Christian ministry in the UK, working with the English church and/or leading Spanish/Portuguese speaking congregations
- Other people with a heart for mission to and from Latin America
What is the focus?
The forum seeks to resource those with a heart for mission to and from Latin America. It provides a good learning, sharing and supportive networking opportunity, primarily for Global Connections member mission agencies to better prepare for service in the Latin context. However, increasingly, as mission is from everywhere to everywhere, the forum has welcomed Latin Americans engaged in mission in the UK and pastors leading their own Spanish or Portuguese speaking congregations. The cross-cultural blend of experience is invaluable.
What issues have we covered recently?
Sharing honestly (and humorously) about each others' cultures and mindsets; church growth in Latin America; the role of western mission organisations in mobilising/supporting Latins in mission; leadership training in Latin America; mission in reverse.
When do we meet?
The forum meets on average twice a year for a day conference mid-morning to mid-afternoon and includes opportunity for peer sharing in groups, and feedback.
Who is on the planning team?
The forum chair is Alan Tower (Latin Link). Other members include Samuel Cueva (St James, Muswell Hill), Wilma Davies (Latin Partners), John Ellison, David Flynn (LST), Claudio Muzzi, Bernice Pannell (All Nations), Anny Rosciani (Woodhams) and John Sutton (SAMS). The Forum is administered by Martin Lee.
