Resourcing HR specialists to serve people involved in God's mission

Who is it for?

International HR ForumThis forum brings together those involved in international HR and cross-cultural mission. Many are qualified HR professionals, others new to personnel-related work. It is for anyone with roles in recruitment, placement, training and people support.

What is the focus?

The main focus is on helping to improve HR practice, especially in relation to mission partners serving outside the UK. The forum also provides networking opportunites. It is developing a comprehensive package of good practice guidelines. Speakers are invited to provide insight and training on particular issues and there are regular updates on employment law.

What issues have we covered recently?

Guidleines of Good Practice, Strategic Role of HR in Change Management, Psychometric testing, preventing conflict, remote management, risk management and preventable attrition. When do we meet?

The forum meets on a weekday twice a year, usually in June and November. There is two day residential conference every two or three years.

Who is the planning team?

The Chair is Gary Colvin (MAF-UK). Other members are Owen Davies (Zambesi Mission), Janet Quarry (BMS World Mission), Marion Knell (Global Connections), Ruth Gracey (Wycliffe Bible Translators), Jo Sayer (Crosslinks), Helen Johnston (Presbyterian Church in Ireland), Jane Showell-Rogers (Global Connections) and Martin Lee (Global Connections).

ACCESS TO NHS TREATMENT FOR MISSION PARTNERS

The Department of Health has published some rules, procedures and documentation on access to hospital and primary health care, including NHS charges and exemptions for former UK residents currently working overseas. Missionaries are specifically named as an exempt category, eligible for free NHS treatment in England. Full information can be found on the Department of Health website
