Operating under the code
A process by which agencies and churches express their commitment to high standards in short-term mission practice
The reason for developing a review process for the Short-Term Mission Code of Best Practice (CBP) is to provide agencies and churches with a mechanism for affirming their commitment to high standards in short-term mission.
In 2005, Global Connections reintroduced the review process to affirm those organisations committed to operating under the code. These organisations are recognised by the Code of Best Practice (CBP) logo in the Christian Vocations Short-Term Service Directory.
The process was revised for 2006 to combine organisational self-monitoring with an external review of the monitoring forms by the Short-Term Mission core group. Copies of the forms used are available below. The review is currently in process and the deadline for submitting the completed 'Code review form' (found below) is 31st March 2008. Approved organisations/churches will have their programmes validated up to the end of 2010. The review takes place every two years.
If your church or organisation is involved in organising short-term mission trips and are committed to high standards, do consider participating in these regular reviews.
