Standards in mission practice
Together exploring best practice and good standards in mission
One of our strategy aims is to raise standards through promoting good practice. Our motivation in raising standards is based on our desire that God is glorified in all that our members do. We also recognise the legal and moral responsibilities and obligations of our members ministries and the desire to serve staff, participants and partners in the best way possible.
Codes and guidelines
One key area where some common standards have been widely used for some time is the Short Term Code of Best Practice. The Code was revised in 2005, and the process for monitoring the code was redeveloped in 2006.
Recently we have also produced Guidelines for Developing a Child Protection Policy and Guidelines for Crisis Management and Prevention including Working in High Risk Areas. These are designed for organisations or churches sending staff or volunteers overseas so we can have the highest standards in this important area.
There's more to come...
The network has increasingly voiced its desire for further codes and guidelines and several Global Connections Forums are looking at this issue. Keep an eye on this page in the coming months for more information.
