A Time For Mission

Mark Lees reviews Samuel Escobar's book on the challenges facing mission in a global context

A Time for MissionThis book presents a useful history of the major missionary endeavours of these last centuries and puts this into the context of the present challenges in missions today.

The writer brings useful insights and perspectives from his involvement in missions from different dultural contexts. As a book, it is more meaty than motivating and more informative than inspiring. But saying that, I did find the whole approach of the book readable, well presented and researched, and I see this book as a valuable addition to the Global Christian Library.

It is more of a book that looks back on history and what we can learn for today than one which seeks to project any fresh proposals for the future.

This book is a resource to be used and to draw from as we seek to face the challenges of doing missions in a global context in the 21st century.
