Global Focus

Working with church leaders to encourage mission focus

After eight years of successful ministry in the USA with many examples of churches being transformed by the Global Focus process, in October 2003 Operation Mobilisation became an International Partner with Global Focus with the mandate to adapt the process to best serve churches in the United Kingdom. This has been accomplished by a lengthy process of contextualising the material through wide consultation and pilots with a number of churches.

Global Focus is a process of encouraging and supporting local church leadership to make mission the personality of the church rather than just another programme of the church. The separation between local evangelism and global mission is challenged as is the concept that mission is just for the enthusiastic few. The emphasis is upon the whole church re-owning a balanced Acts 1:8 strategy and a process of change within the church to allow every member of the congregation the opportunity to see where their gifts fit into the churchs global outreach plan.

This is facilitated through personal time with the church leader, a Friday night/Saturday seminar for the leadership team of the church followed by an optional 18 months Companionship as the church leadership seeks to implement gradual change. The focus is not upon adopting a proven programme but on the church seeking to discover Gods plan for their specific situation and opportunities.

This is not an OM focussed programme, but as the process unfolds the church is encouraged to seek out their own partners, both locally and globally, as their own plan and strategy emerges.
