'I received a call from a Christian lady in London who was desperate for someone to visit a very sick friend, Eliahu, in a Tel Aviv hospital.
In hospital Eliahu had had lots of 'accidents'; a fall which led to a punctured lung and then pneumonia; after fainting in a corridor, a nurse tried to pick him up but fell on him instead and broke his hip; a clamp came off a drip causing devastating results. But although very weak, God kept him alive.
As our Israeli missionaries were on campaign in New York, all we could do was to pray for Eliahu, who had no relatives in israel. The lady had shared the gospel with this Jewish man when they worked together in Africa, but as he was not yet a believer, she didn't want him to die without having another chance to accept Jesus as his Messiah.
I finally got through to our contact once he was back in Tel Aviv. He immediately called another missionary, Shlomy, on his mobile, as Shlomy and a colleague, David, were in the area distributing Gospel tracts. That same afternoon Shlomy and David visited Eliahu. As they shared the Gospel, Eliahu invited Jesus into his life as his Messiah. There was much rejoicing in heaven, Tel Aviv and London that day!
Five days later Eliahu died. He was safe in the presence of his Lord.
Since then our Christian friend wrote us the following, 'It's been a wonderful witness to friends, and I am hoping that it will also be to his ex-wife and daughter who seem extraordinarily impressed with both God and Jews for Jesus'. Pray for her ongoing witness to the family.'
