Supporting Fulani Christians

The benefit of a pastoral visit for isolated Christians

People and a vehicle (with thanks to Fulani Ministries)The Fulani people live in a range of countries, from The Gambia through to Sudan. Many do not believe in Christ so becoming a Christian can be quite a lonely experience. However, there are pastors and others who spend their time encouraging new believers. One such person is Pastor Sow, who visited a group of Fulani Christians in Togo on behalf of Fulani Ministries.

He writes…

“When I learn that someone has come to faith in Christ or that there is a group of Christians somewhere, I rejoice and have a desire to meet them and encourage them. Fulani people come to know Christ gradually. They are numerous but are less evangelised, and when a Fulani person comes to faith in Christ he can feel isolated and often experiences persecution.

A proverb from our region says: “If you have only one tooth then at least let it be white.”

An isolated Fulani Christian needs encouragement to grow in his faith, and in reaching out to his community. It was the first time that Fulani Christians had gone to visit them. They were greatly encouraged by our visit, and as we are Fulani Christians we could read The Scriptures together in Fulfulde, which touched them a great deal.”
